Foundations Health Leader Works Alongside Mentor Ridge STNA
Left to Right: Bob Speelman and Megan Kovac
July 3, 2019NOTE: This story was taken from the blog of Foundations Health leader Bob Speelman. Each week Bob works at one of his facilities in different roles such as housekeeping, or as a nursing assistant, to bring A Culture of Care.
I spent the day at Mentor Ridge our 99-bed, 5 Star facility in Mentor, Ohio yesterday. I had the pleasure of working alongside Megan Kovac. Megan will be 27 in a few days and has been an STNA for 8 years. Simply put, if you could select the perfect STNA to care for your loved one, you'd pick Megan. She was so loving toward all of her residents, paid attention to every little detail in their care and how they were dressed and their hair and their glasses. She steadily moved from room to room, and our time flew by quickly because we didn't stop.
Recently, Megan was off to attend a family members' wedding, and she stopped by the facility when she got back into town because wanted to see her residents and make sure their rooms were stocked with supplies so she could get started the next day with care and not waste any time getting supplies. That is how much she cares.
I asked Megan about her work ethic and she said without hesitation, "I get that from my dad. I'm a daddy's girl. He's a hard worker and provided for us, and I love him and look up to him."
As we moved from room to room, Megan would say as we were leaving, "I just love her...He's my favorite...She's my favorite..." I told Megan that I think they all are her favorite. She smiled and said, "Yeah, they are."
"Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own."

Megan – The joy I witnessed in you that came from caring for your residents was inspiring and heartwarming. I loved every minute of my time with you and you made me want to be a better caregiver. Thank you for that!
